Youth & Family Program Staff

SUMMARY
Under the direction and supervision of the Youth and Family Coordinator, Youth and Family Program Staff will be responsible for engaging in and implementing all programs and activities on a daily basis in the Youth and Family Area. Staff will guide the development of children, ensuring a safe, enriching, and healthy environment using materials and resources in the Youth and Family Area. It is the philosophy of our program that the staff will provide a safe and fun environment for children while parents are involved in YMCA activities. Staff will provide a quality experience to children and parents that focus on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring and faith.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads day-to-day operation of the program for youth, primarily ages 7-12, providing guidance and leadership with the assigned group of children
Facilitate group activities within assigned programs and events. Engages in activities that are age-appropriate, meeting the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of the participants
Promotes a team concept through a positive approach to communication and interactions with others. Maintains ongoing communication with participants and parents.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of the Y mission, values, purpose and goals. Upholds and exemplifies the Ys principles of character development that build strong kids, families and communities
Maintains and submits all necessary forms and documentation, including procedures, accident and incident reports
Provide a safe and nurturing environment for all
Develop a caring, consistent adult relationships with program participants.
Provide constant adult supervision with each activity to ensure the safety of all program participants.
Assist students with academic, recreational and enrichment activities.
Assist the manager on duty in handling discipline, complaints, and conflict resolution.
Be actively engaged in working with students, use provided curriculum materials to assist students in learning and achieving academic success.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications required upon hire: CPR & First Aid/AED, Child abuse prevention and Bloodborne Pathogens, New Employee Orientation.
Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic
segments of the community.
While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk (indoors & outdoors), and occasionally may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
