Swim Lesson Instructor - Northeast Family YMCA

At the Y, participants learn swimming skills and feel a sense of achievement from mastering something new that they can enjoy the rest of their lives. The Swim Lesson Instructor provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes.

1. Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with Y guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly.
2. Builds effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the Y. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
3. Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate refers students and parents to other programs.
4. Maintains records as required (e.g. attendance, progress reports, etc.)
5. Follows all Y policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
1. Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification.
2. Attend Child Abuse Prevention Training
3. Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
4. At least 16 years of age.
5. Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques.
6. Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child.
7. Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks necessary for a water rescue.
8. Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
