The Sales Engineer in Training will take part in an 18 to 24-month training program in preparation for a regional role within the Danfoss Drives USA sales team for variable frequency drives.
Training Program:

  • During the training program, the trainee will gain valuable experience through various department assignments beginning with Inside Sales and ending with a sequenced shadowing of Danfoss Drives outside sales professionals.

  • The training program will include both internal and external sales competency development activities as well as in depth product training.

  • After on-boarding process, the trainees will begin their career with Danfoss Drives in Inside Sales where they will, over the course of approximately 12 months with the help of a mentor: support efforts to increase sales revenue and opportunities for the Danfoss Drives USA team and act as a primary sales support resource for our customers, partners and outside sales team. They will work collaboratively with the outside sales team to become both a commercial advisor and product advocate.

  • The Sales Trainee will work with the Inside Sales Engineer team to independently to close business and support assigned accounts and partners in target segments (Industry, Water and HVAC).

  • Sales Trainee will also work to validate leads for the Regional Account Managers by initiating calls with potential clients, validating opportunities, and following up on web leads. Additionally, they will provide support to the department by assisting with pipeline management, sales reporting, and internal sales processes.

  • Sales Trainee will be exposed to and or have brief assignments within Product Marketing, Customer Service, Tech Support, Business Excellence, Engineering and Supply Chain. Final deployment to an outside selling role will be coincident with sales team need and a demonstrated readiness on the part of the Sales Trainee.

Responsibilities within Inside Sales Department:

  • Support and assist assigned sales team in executing territory growth plans

  • Support assigned sales regions with developing quotations in response to customer requests, tracking and following up on customer leads, and sales quota / revenue generation goals

  • Provide presale support for issues related to product selection and pricing, competitor cross referencing, applications, specifications etc.

  • Prepare project takeoffs based on plan and specification review ? inclusive of quotation, submittals, bills of material, etc.

  • Assist with project closeout support as required ? final drawings, O&M manuals, etc.

  • Assist with commercial processes related to quotation and order review

  • Assist with interaction with customers, partners and team via phone and email.

  • Develop proficient level of product and application knowledge

  • Develop proficient understand understanding of target markets and customers

  • Assist with project order execution actions and overall coordination between Customer Service department and Outside Sales.

  • Effectively qualify, prioritize and respond to leads as directed

  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of company Value Propositions

  • Conduct research on prospective and existing customers and competitors as directed

  • SalesForce CRM and pipeline process owner for self-generated quotations


  • Bachelor?s degree in engineering required (Electrical or Mechanical engineering degree preferred)

  • Experience or interest in B-to-B/OEM sales, sales support, application engineering, or technical sales.

  • Working knowledge of AC motor control or experience preferred

  • Hands-on CRM process experience

  • Working knowledge of sales concepts, methods and techniques

  • Ability to read architectural, mechanical and electrical blueprints

  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical control systems

  • A working knowledge of MS Office/internet (SAP background a plus)

  • Ability to see the value of contributing and developing results in a strong team

  • Good communication and analytical skills

  • Exceptional communication skills that clearly articulate a 'business justification', 'what's in it for the client', obtain 'incremental gain' to qualify potential business opportunities and move the sales process

  • Self-motivated, energetic, well organized

  • Career interest in future outside sales role

  • Ability to travel within USA 5-10% as trainee and up to 50-75% in eventual sales role

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
