21st Century Group Leader

SUMMARY
As the nation's largest nonprofit provider of quality child care programs, Ys know firsthand the benefit of after school programs in keeping kids safe, improving their academic achievement and supporting working families. These programs include engaging hands-on, experiential learning activities that complement and enhance the school day for children.
The group leader works to assist the Site Coordinator in leading the operation/implementation of the 21st CCLC (Century Community Learning Center) after school program, adhering to all the policies and procedures as outlined. The staff must be able to lead a group of students through the programming of each day. Assists with fostering a safe and nurturing environment for the students. The staff must also assist with students homework in order to help improve the academic achievement of the students, address behavior problems as they arise, and provide leadership for activities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide guidance and leadership with a group of children.
2. Assist with group activities throughout the daily schedule.
3. Develop a caring, consistent adult relationship with the group.
4. Provide consistent adult supervision with each activity to ensure the safety of the students.
5. Help students with their homework.
6. Provide opportunities for discussion of individual and group problems and concerns and providing them the opportunity to resolve them.
7. Assist the Site Coordinator in handling discipline, complaints, and conflict resolution.
8. Work collaboratively with YMCA association and leadership.
9. Be actively engaged in working with students, use provided curriculum materials to assist students in learning and achieving academic success.
10. Role model appropriate behaviors including cleanliness, punctuality, sharing, healthy habits, sportsmanship, and table manners.
11. Perform duties and tasks as assigned by the Site Coordinator.
12. Treat all students, parents, and fellow staff with respect.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Certifications required within 60 days of hire: CPR/AED, Child abuse prevention and New Employee Orientation.
3. Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
4. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic
segments of the community.
5. While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, swim and occasionally may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
SCHEDULE
Seasonal Part Time Non-Exempt
M-F afternoons, up to 25 hours per week
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
$8.50 - $10.00

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
