Electrical Engineer I

We are seeking a Electrical Engineer I at our Loves Park, IL site. As a valued member of Danfoss Drives, the Electrical Engineer I will be responsible for contributing to the design and development products within the responsibility of the Product Engineering Center. This typically spans changes made for improving product quality (internal and external), cost optimization, customer adaptations, component obsolescence, and supplier changes.

  • Take product ownership from a design perspective once the product is released, and ensure that the product meets the customer requirements with the highest quality and the right cost.

  • Prepare product design validation plans/specifications for the designs, execute the plan and document the results appropriately

  • Maintain records pertinent to each project in the form of time, sketches, drawings, material specifications, etc.

  • Oversee the operations involved in the construction and testing of prototype products.

  • Lead taskforces to resolve issues before they escalate and become a crisis.

  • The key success criteria for this position will be yearly quality improvements, annual cost reduction and on time release of Product Adaptations


  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Engineering, Master?s Degree preferred.

  • 3 to 5 years? work experience required in areas related to product design and development and/or engineering research.

  • Knowledge of the following: IGBT/power semiconductors, power topologies, analog design/control electronics, and magnetics/filters.

  • Working knowledge of CAD design tools, including MatLab, MathCad and Pspice, as well as PC based computer equipment and peripherals.

  • Strong working knowledge of printed circuit boards, and the ability to troubleshoot component issues.

  • Ability to perform engineering analysis of Variable Frequency Drives

  • Strong documentation skills

  • Experienced in Lean, DFSS, DFMEA, PFMEA. Continuous Improvement

  • Ability to work effectively in a high quality, deadline driven environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a team.

  • Global mindset and excellent communication skills to efficiently communicate across all levels in the organization.

  • Good time management and project management skills to organize and plan effectively in developing effective systems and processes.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
