Staff Accountant

Position Summary The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for the preparation, analysis, and reporting of accounting and operational information for the manufacturing facilities.
The Staff Accountant will also have an active role in the corporate accounting function, organizational internal controls, and compliance.
Essential Duties and Requirements include, but are not limited to, the following items:
Compile and analyze financial information for the monthly accounting close process.
Oversee physical inventories of production materials and maintenance parts; ensuring proper cutoff and compliance to financial requirements are attained.
Obtain a workable understanding of the inventory, maintenance, and accounting systems.
Educate other employees on company policies, procedures, and practices around finance.
Monitor compliance and provide corrective action as necessary.
Actively pursue ways to improve, streamline, or automate existing processes.
Create and/or update written procedures for functional areas.
Support the organization to provide operational performance results for review, analysis and action.
Complete all manufacturing related government census reporting for the organization.
Demonstrate a strong, functional understanding of all plant departments and provide support to these departments as needed.
Assist with required financial and internal control audits.
Responsible for submitting accurate documents in accordance with established deadlines.
Perform technical research as issues or questions arise.
Travel to other company locations may be required, less than 5%.
Execute special projects, as deemed necessary.
Responsible for promoting food safety and employee safety throughout the organization.

Education and/or Experience Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent required.
A minimum of two years accounting experience required, strong preference in a food manufacturing environment.
Experience in the use of Deacom ERP a plus.
Proficient in Windows environment:
MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint).
Language Skills Ability to read, verify and confirm all financial data in English.
Mathematical Skills Excellent Mathematical Skills required.
Reasoning Ability Ability to understand and compile complex financial information and analyze it for reasonableness and be able to come forward with recommendations and/or solutions.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
